Being grateful is not the same as content

I have set so many goals for the future. Some have been successful, some disappointing failures. Living in America where you can have and be just about anything you want to be makes an individual dream big. When milestones aren’t reached, depression can sink in. We begin to complain why others have it better than us.

There are millions of people who live on less than $900 a year in this world. So even if you live in America making minimum wage, about $15,000 a year, you basically live like royalty compared to the rest of the world. This isn’t to say stay on minimum wage if your goal is to make a higher salary, but a reminder that you have it a lot better than most. People literally complain about what they eat while there are less fortunate waiting for their next bowl of rice. Rice being the only option.

When you feel like things aren’t going your way, always remember all the great things that you have currently. Believe me when I say, that somewhere, there is a family of five or six living in a house that’s probably the size of your bedroom. Be grateful and stay optimistic and realize that if you stay this way, you will get everything you deserve but gratitude comes first.
